I wish you could see me now
By the riverside in Tennessee
My timberlands turn ten this year
Oh the places they’ve been
I’m reading books in the cold
Sitting outside in the cold
Letting my hands get cold on purpose so they’ll feel good when I wrap them around a hot mug
Oh look, my nail polish is chipping and I don’t even care
I wish you could see me now
Not needing a TV or missing my English summer
But instead missing my grandmother
And loving my mother
I feel strange when I think of Gill Street
Days I had wine for dinner and nothing else
Now I love broccoli, zucchini, all things green
And with this I wonder what I mean when I say I hate hot weather
Because I’d love to retire in a villa one day
In a villa one day, I dream
